The HCS Ahriman is a Hellcat Squadran Training Vessel. A retired Iluvenia class Battlecarrier, the Ahriman was religated to training duty in 2267, where the battlecarrier serves as a training ship for both pilots and starship personnel.
The vessel's fighter compliment mostly contains obselete ADF-01H Scythes, HF-30 Wildcats, and HF-35 Hellcats, although, for emergenies, a wing of 5 HF-257 Pegasi interceptors and 2 state-of-the-art HF-262 Illuminati fighter-bombers are also stationed onboard.
The ship's weapons are mostly loaded with 'training rounds' (ionized plasma in place of positrons for the Antimatter Accelerator Cannon, dummy missiles/torpedoes, etc), although ships stores do contain 'proper' ammunition, in case the ship faces enemy forces while on a training sortie.
Like all Iluvenia class Battlecarriers, the Ahriman can retract all its weapons into itself, and activate an Energized Particle Field, a shield basically made of the same composition of the ship's particle beams. While this prevents fighters from launching, and the ship from utilizing its weapons or antimatter drive, it also is vastly effective at preventing enemy weapons and boarding parties from reaching the ship. Essentially, when using the EPFG, the Ahriman is basically "playing turtle".
