The Black Knights is a mercenary organization formed in 2345, by Sylas Llehctim, son of the Hellcat Squadran commanders Leinad Llehctim and May Vera-Llehctim.

The Black Knights contain members from many factions across the Milky Way and IgR Galaxies, from many factions. Their forces, both space forces and ground forces, are equally diverse, although Sylas's own forces consist of stolen and refitted Nod units.

The Black Knights mercenary group was formed in 2345, by Sylas Llehctim, as a means to respond to threats without having to go through, as he calls it, "the Coalition's bureaucratic bullshit".

The initial members of the Black Knights, other than Sylas, were a Geth Mercenary named "Delta", and Anila Jolvan, a Torillian Cleric of the lesser Moon Goddess Selune. They were soon joined by the Orion ship commander Myreta, and the Chieftain of a rogue, anti-Covenant Loyalist Brute pack, named Braxis.

For the first 2 years of the organization's existence, Sylas worked in secret to gather allies and prepare his flagship, the Bellicose. He'd later reveal the full extent of his power in 2347, when his sister was captured by Cerberus, and he helped the rest of his family, as well as his sisters' friends, in rescuing her.
