Sam "Snake" Carter was a well known theif in the SDR and was usually the one responsible for getting food and medicine for the SDR from Nod bases. He was orignially a 13 year old pick pocket in Pierre before it was level by Nod. He was released from juvinal hall by a guard as the building was over run by Covenant troops. He also stole important maps files and the ocasional watch from the occuping troops. He had his nose broken when his bad habit posesed him to steal John Powers watch.

After the final battle he never returned to the meeting spot for the SDR soldiers, or the US military. He was declaired missining in action. Adriana tried to track him down a few days after but his emotional signature went cold after the battle ended. Without a body he is belived missing wether he wanted to vanish is unknown. He is one of two SDR members that have not been acounted for the other is Anthony "Thrax" Taylor. However, before the end of the Treklan war, he re-appeared as part of Adriana's Hydra Wing, which included members of the SDR's Hallucigenia Squadron.
